The cottage is situated on the beautiful Alde estuary and is within easy access to the heritage coastline. From the rare beauty of Shingle Street in the south, through to bustling Southwold in the north, this stretch of the Suffolk coast offers so much to enjoy. Visit the village of Orford and the pretty towns of Aldeburgh and Walberswick, or take a trip to RSPB Minsmere. Maybe head inland to Framlingham castle or Sutton Hoo, or just browse in one of the local antique centres.
Just a ten-minute walk from the cottage is the Snape Maltings complex which offers a world-class concert venue as well as shops, cafes and galleries with a wealth of activities including music, farmers’ markets, crafts and day courses.
In nearby Saxmundham (a ten-minute drive away), there are two supermarkets – Waitrose and Tesco – along with local shops including a chemist, Post Office and bank.
Within walking distance, Snape Maltings food hall sells bread and milk, along with a wide selection of high-quality local products. The award-winning Pump Street bakery is a short drive away in Orford and you will find many local pubs serving delicious food. Suffolk has some wonderful farm shops, fish smokeries, and fish and chip shops. You will not go hungry!
